Direct Visual and Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is an effective, fast and safe treatment for venous insufficiency. It is often done for cosmetic purposes, but can also help reduce aching, swelling, burning and itching associated with vein disease.
Sclerotherapy is an in-office procedure that does not require anesthesia. Using a very small needle causing little to no pain, a chemical solution is injected into unhealthy veins causing the vein to collapse and eventually disappear.
Typically, the body absorbs the diseased vein and blood is rerouted to healthy veins within a few weeks. If you are treated for spider veins or small varicose veins you can expect to see results in about six weeks. Larger veins may require 3-4 months. Treated veins rarely come back, but new veins may appear.
We schedule a follow up visit 3 weeks after the procedure to determine if you need additional sessions. Some patients may require multiple treatments.
